Date User Feedback Decision Status
3/3/10 PR

a) "I've just seen my first lender trust stats; it says that I've only got 33% satisfaction.
This seems really unfair as everyone I've lent to has been very satisfied with the lend.
Can you feed this into your 'user feedback' and look at this at the next Web Development Group.
Thanks"

b) "I see how these trust stats work now. What I don't like is having to chase up the people who I lent to so they can raise my trust stats. eg Jayaraja. If they don't give me a rating, I'd prefer it if it didn't count in the calculation i.e only where people give a rating is a trust stat formed. Is that a clear and OK request?
I guess we'll discuss this at Web Development.
What I hadn't realised until a little while ago is that you get to see who the contact email is from -if they are logged in. Clever, and surprising for me."

Hi Paul - i still can't find dvds - the search box is greyed out. Help?!

Reply sent- DVD search can be done in postcode BS7 by people who are not logged in; other postcodes only once you've logged in. Did the password turn up OK?

-thanks that works

[NB first time he looked for DVDs he put the letters dvd in the search box and found nothing]

Also suggest that Advanced Search could include the comments text sometime?

I appreciate what you are doing and wish you the greatest success with it.

However, for me, the thought of subscribing to yet another website and filling out forms is just too much to even think about. My whole life is consumed by digital technology and I'm doing everything I can to cut back.

If you still want the DVD I'll bring it along to the next film club."

09/11/09 n/a Users are not always leaving Comments against the items they add (though so far, only 6 out of 79 items have a blank Comments field). Could this be encouraged, e.g. by changing 'Comments' to something else, or by having supporting text suggesting what to write? Change to e.g. "Anything else you'd like to say about this item" Not done
29/09/09 PC What if I use email only once a week, and am happy to receive phone calls about requests? No action for release 1.0.

To be reviewed for releases after 1.0

29/09/09 PC What if I want to contact someone about an item whilst it is not available (eg it is being borrowed by someone else at the time)? This will not be possible in release 1.0

To be reviewed for releases after 1.0

21/08/09 Mike G I will register the item for lending (a garden spade) in the next few days.  However Freelender.org needs to explain to me what guarantees are in place in the event of the spade getting lost, stolen or broken.

PC: I guess that this user hasn't yet seen What should I do if an item is not returned -refer this feedback to Community Conflict Transformation Group.

Home page to provide an answer to this fear, or have a link to the answer, in Release 1.0.

EJ/PC to discuss details of solution.

12/07/09 Mark Boyle I think the registering process in overly cumbersome in relation to passwords. I don't think it is necessary to send out a random password and then have to change it. Why not just let the user choose thier password from the start? Its not a big issue, I just personally feel its an unnecessary level of security but I am sure you have thought it through and have your reasons. A check must be made that the email address entered belongs to the person registering, before the user is allowed to log in.  Therefore, a two-stage "cumbersome" process is required.  No action. Complete
12/07/09  Mark Boyle  I don't fully understand the search functionality - why do you have to search by postcode? I think that will cause you problems, especially pre-critical mass. I think a google maps radius is better - otherwise if I want to find a book in bristol I'd have to go through every BS postcode in the city to check all suburbs. This will be fine if you have 1,000,000 members in Bristol, but not if you have a handful in each area. After postcode field, change
"e.g. 'BS3', 'BS'" to "e.g. 'BS', 'BS3'".
Don't use Google maps as they are not usable by visually impaired people.

Also, its not clear that when you add an item that you add it to book, dvds, general items. When I added an item first I added a book to general items and was wondering why I didn't have to declare it as a book. So I added my book to general items. The book, dvd, cd, video game links are not obvious enough, the two tier level of links in that green bar on your personal homepage doesn't work for me, it just looks like there is only one page when you click on the top tier link. For example, when I clicked on help / info it was only after 20 mins I realised there was an FAQ, and I am quite website savvy - an old person will have little chance.

If this has to be the way then I suggest you default on something specific such as 'Add a book' as it will be obvious to people that they then need to find how to add a video game if that is what they want to do.

1. Use different colour backgrounds for menu and sub-menu.

2. Reorder My Items - so that General Items is not the default.

3. Move FAQ to footer.

Complete
12/07/09 Mark Boyle Also I know you need this info for the type of system you are running, but it wouldn't let me add my book as a value of £0, which is in fact its value to me :-) I am sure I am quite unique in that respect though so I probably wouldn't worry. No action - Giveaway is planned to be added in release 2, at which point a value of 0 will be allowed. Complete
12/07/09 Mark Boyle Are you really limiting this to Bristol? If so, for how long? Just the trial period? If it is going to be bristol for a while then why launch it at buddhafield where there will be a lot of non-bristolians? Add all remaining UK postcodes Complete
12/07/09 Mark Boyle Are you taking peoples email addresses this week. festivals are quite intense with lots going on so I think this is necessary if you want people to check it out post-festival. Take people's email addresses Complete
12/07/09 Mark Boyle I have no idea how to add an item to the wishlist if it is meant to be functioning. Add instructions to wishlist page telling people how to add an item Complete
